A Greek sorority or fraternity wedding!

With the recent wedding we did for one of my sorority sisters Megan, we wanted to share different ways someone can go about recognizing their Greek affiliation at a wedding!

First- You can wear your pin on or under your dress, and your fiancée can do the same on or under his suit!

Second- You could carry an entire bouquet of your flowers or if you would rather, you can just work one of the flowers into the bouquet.

Third- If your sisters are your bridesmaids they too can have one or many of that special flower in their bouquet.

Forth- Depending on how well the sorority or fraternities colors match you can try to incorporate them into the color scheme of the wedding. For Example- bridesmaid dresses, groomsmen ties, or tablecloths.

Fifth- If your Greek affiliation had any readings that were read during initiation, or at chapter you can have someone read this at your ceremony.

Last, but not least- The songs! We all have plenty of songs and chats we have learned and some even specifically for a wedding. Have a chair in the middle of the dance floor for you to sit in, and have your sisters or brothers honor your day with one of the songs.

Hope you have enjoyed! Have a great weekend!

Honeymoon Registry

Thinking about wedding registration, but already live with your fiancé and have all the appliances you need? Here is another option, register with Traveler’s Joy or Honeyfund!

Both are websites that allow guests to help pay for a piece of your honeymoon. If experiences are more important than items to you then you should consider it!

With more couples living together before they get married and the average age of people getting married rising the use for household items has gone down.

Asking people to help pay for a couples massage on the beach, or parasailing during the day is a fun exciting thing to think about. Have people help you get to the places you cannot on your own.

Registering at home good stores and at a honeymoon fund website is also possible in case you want to give people the option of one or the other.

Ashley and Rusty's Wedding

This past month we had a wedding at the Postcard Inn.

The weather was beautiful for Ashley and Rusty’s beach wedding and outside reception.

Officiate Rick Lackore from Sensation Ceremonies married the two at sunset.

The couple hired The Traveling Photo Booth company for their guests to take pictures and be silly with throughout the night..

The tables all had mason jars and books on them for the decorations and centerpieces,

which matched the theme from the hotel,

and the flowers from Events in Bloom matched the bridal party dresses perfectly!

There were plenty of treats and fun snacks during the reception we had a popcorn bar and a cupcake table! Unforgettable Cupcakes made the four different types of yummy cupcakes! The reception music was provided by Bryan Fisk from Elite Sound Entertainment

The photos for the wedding were taken by Raquel Sergio Photography

Hope everyone has a great week!

Trash the Dress!!

Just got married? Trying to figure out what are you going to do with that beautiful dress after the big day?…We say trash it!

The big day only happens once, and you will not need the dress again, so why not have some fun and get great pictures while doing it.

Go ahead get into the ocean or mud, get it dirty and trash it!

Who really wants the dress to sit in plastic or a cardboard box in the attic for 20 years anyways?! Be fearless and try something new!

Also, let this masterpiece of art be displayed in your home. Many photographers would love to do this shoot with you, but here is one company in particular and two sessions of their trash the dress!

Party on the Dance Floor!

Hi Everyone!

Want to have a fun wedding reception and a full dance floor?

Besides picking a great DJ and having a large dance floor here is another idea….

On your wedding R.S.V.P. cards put a space for “A favorite song.”

The idea is to have every couple or person respond with a yes and a song request.

Once you have all the requests submit this list to the DJ ensuring everyone of those songs gets played! Last, make sure the couple is on the dance floor for their song!

Have a great rest of the week and weekend!

Saying Hello!

Hello Everyone!

My name is Erin Quirk, and I am working as an intern with Stylish Traditions this semester! I am originally from Boston, Mass, but go to school here in Tampa at the University of Tampa.

In the past I have actually done three other event planning internships, but all in the corporate world! I am super excited to be working with Heather and Stylish Traditions this fall. Wedding and Event planning in my goal after college.

Here is an inspiration board I put together with the things I love! I look forward to meeting and working with you all!

Who said you have to wear white?!

White, off-white, ivory, eggshell….it is a tradition in today’s society to wear shades of white on your wedding day. But where did this come from??

This tradition started way back to Queen Victoria’s marriage to Albert de Saxe in 1840 and ever since then it has been customary to wear a white dress on your wedding day. In the Victorian Era, white fabric was very expensive so it was only chosen by royalty or the wealthy to represent elegance and class. Today, it is believed that white is supposed to represent purity and symbolize virginity which was not its original intention.

Wedding dress traditions stem from all over depending on religion and culture. Nowadays, it is not as important to abide by the early traditions of ones society or customs. Dresses can be long, short...simple, extravagant...or red, blue or yellow! A lot of designers have a variety of wedding gowns in any color imaginable. It’s your wedding, so make it unique to you!

I recently participated in a wedding where bride wore yellow and the bridesmaids wore white…how creative!

Wedding dresses have always represented the popular styles of the day. There will always be new trends when it comes to your wedding day, but remember- it’s your day so wear was makes you look and feel beautiful!

Fall in love with Autumn!

Fall is right around the corner! As one of the most popular wedding seasons quickly approaches, autumn brides can put a fun fall twist on wedding classics as well as some contemporary trends.

This season texture is key. Consider table linens in fabrics such as linen or silk and centerpieces that tie in traditional autumn colors and textures.

Give a seasonal feel to classic wedding flowers by using rich, dramatic colors. Adding a pop of white will make the deep autumn colors really stand out!

Although autumn weather can be a bit temperamental making outdoor weddings difficult, brides can bring a bit of the outdoors inside with indoor foliage.

Small potted trees and plants in rich fall hues add a natural touch!

Get to know Jack!

We recently took a weekend trip to Nashville, TN aka Music City to celebrate the marriage of our friends Ryan & Talia. While on the way up there we couldn't help but stop in Lynchburg to get a tour of the Jack Daniels Distillery and see first hand how the Tennessee whiskey is produced. The property was so gorgeous!!! The distillery would be an amazing location for a wedding or special event. They have a "boarding house restaurant" you can even host a private event at called, Miss Mary Bobo's.

Pictures from the distillery tour. This is where they burn the wood and stack it before making it into chips they use to filter the whiskey.

Outside the welcome center! Everything was just gorgeous!

Crafton and I in front of the "cave" where they still get the same water from to make JD.

Props for All!

Thinking about renting a Photo Booth for your wedding or event? You're not alone! Photo booth's have become one of the most popular rental items for entertainment.

While they can certainly be entertaining and provide for some awesome candid shots, the optional props are almost always reminiscent of a Halloween party. Instead, why not try some more unique items. Here are a few super cute things I found on Etsy!

Unforgettable Cupcakes

Who doesn't love cupcakes? They're the perfect sweet treat for anything! I recently had the most amazing tasting courtesy of Shirley from Unforgettable Cupcakes. I tried four flavors, Chocolate Espresso, Pineapple Coconut, Strawberry Champagne and Cookies n' Cream... my favorite? Pineapple coconut!

Shirley's cupcakes were not only delicious but also priced very reasonable! There are tons of flavors to choose from and endless options as Shirley can make each cupcake completely different or create a uniform look for every flavor. She even offers 6" and 8" mini cakes for brides interested in forgoing the standard wedding cake and opting for the mini version.

Bottom line.... if you're thinking about ordering cupcakes for an event, Shirley from Unforgettable Cupcakes is your girl!

Mamma Mia!

As an Ybor resident I just love having date night at Bernini of Ybor. Their wood-fired pizza and calamari is always out of this world! My favorite thing about Bernini? You can host a private event for up to 75 guests on the third floor. The atmosphere is really unique, it almost feels like you were invited to the owner's private space above the bustling restaurant floor. Having an event at your home? Bernini's doesn't only serve food in their quirky building on 7th Avenue, they also provide off-site catering. Next time you're in Ybor definitely take a peek upstairs... and if it's around dinner time, I recommend the Gilroy pizza!

Lincoln Lawyer Movie Premiere

We were thrilled when we got the call to coordinate a movie premiere party for the author of the Lincoln Lawyer! The Connelly's completely transformed the outdoor space of their beautiful Tampa home with a tent, pool cover and flooring, and some very chic outdoor furniture that fit the style of their home perfectly. The movie (and book) was certainly a hit, and so was the party!

Many thanks to Amy Pezzicara of Pezz Photo for all the images!
