Laterika, known to many as "Terri" is a 5th generation Saint Petersburg native and the new owner of Stylish Traditions. For over half a decade Laterika dedicated herself to planning a long line of hugely successful special events in the community such as Bayfront On Vine, Hook & Ladder's Pork & Pinot and the Bayflite Classic Golf Classic to name a few. As the owner of eventOvative Consultation & Management and the former event director at Bayfront Health Foundation, she offers expertise in everything from corporate events and non-profit fundraisers to fabulous weddings and intimate social gatherings.

The Duke & Dutchess of Cambridge

What a fabulous day last Friday was in London, England! As everyone around the globe already knows... Prince William and Kate Middleton were married in the Royal Wedding of the century. Since I wasn't part of the Lady Di generation, I took it upon myself to wake up extra early and watch the big event. These were my absolute favorite details of the Royal Wedding:

Trees lined the aisle instead of floral arrangements. I thought this was so unique, and green!


The veil and tiara Kate chose was perfect! I have a feeling blushers will be coming back in!

Kate's first dress was beyond! Her second? Just as amazing!

The cake was truly a work of art. Look at all that detail!

Recently, one of our couples Missie & Zack tied the knot with an earthy and laid back ceremony and reception. Guests watched as the couple exchanged vows at the Mennello Museum followed by a terrace reception under the stars at the Orlando Science Center.

Missie's six yr. old son Nate took part in the ceremony too as he walked down with aisle with a, "Here comes the Bride" son. Too cute!

The Tradition of the Veil

Wedding veils are typically a big part of most weddings. A lot of brides wear a veil because they love incorporating more into their overall look, but what some brides may not know is the tradition behind the veil. I have read article after article about wedding traditions and how to incorporate old traditions in a now-a-day wedding. The veil is the perfect accessory for adding an old tradition to your wedding.

The veil dates back to ancient Greeks and Romans. Due to the fact that grooms were fearful of evil spirits and demons, they had their brides cover themselves to protect them from these evil spirits. The Roman brides often wore all red veils to keep away the evil spirits. Because brides could not see through these brightly colored veils, the white veils were created.

For arranged marriages, the veil was used to shield the bride's face from her groom-to-be until he lifted the veil and they were married.

The tradition of the veil has continued and changed over the years. The veil went from being used for protection to being used as a sign of chastity and submission of women. Lace veils were an American created tradition, which I find very interesting and fun!

Today veils are worn mostly as an accessory for the bride and to keep with the tradition that has carried on for centuries. There are many options for veils such as, blushers, fingertip, elbow, cathedral, and chapel length veils. There is also a mantilla veil with a big band of lace going all the way around it which is a big Spanish tradition. The picture above is an Erin Cole blusher veil.

Stylish Traditions Celebrates an Amazing Wedding!

May 22, 2010 Jessica Guido & Kenny Mosseri tied the knot. A momentous occasion at Stylish Traditions as Jessica was a previous bride of mine at Solutions Bridal! What a beautiful wedding we had going on at The Portofino Bay. Great vendors make a great wedding and this one was filled with flowers by Lee Forrest, DJ service by Scooter, string trio by Strings N' Things, photography by Fox Photography, rentals by Room Service and lighting by Get Lit Productions.
